2010 Kentucky Derby Betting history lesson: The Kentucky Derby is one of the USA’s oldest thoroughbred horse races. From the time the region was settled, the fields of the Bluegrass region were noted for producing superior racehorses. In 1872, Col. Meriwether Lewis Clark, Jr., traveled to England, visiting the Epsom Derby, a famous race that had been running annually since 1780. From there, Clark went on to Paris, France, where in 1863, a group of racing enthusiasts had formed the French Jockey Club and had organized the Grand Prix de Paris, which at the time was the greatest race in France.

Returning home to Kentucky, Clark organized the Louisville Jockey Club for the purpose of raising money to build quality racing facilities just outside of the city. The track would soon become known as Churchill Downs, named for Meriwether Lewis Clark Jr.’s relatives, John and Henry Churchill, who had provided the land for the racetrack. Officially, the racetrack was incorporated as Churchill Downs in 1937.

The Kentucky Derby was first run at 1½ miles (2.4 km), the same distance as the Epsom Derby and the Grand Prix de Paris. In 1896, the distance was changed to its current 1¼ miles (2 km). On May 17, 1875, in front of an estimated crowd of 10,000 people, a field of 15 three-year-old horses contested the first Derby. Under jockey Oliver Lewis, a colt named Aristides, who was trained by future Hall of Famer, Ansel Williamson, won the inaugural Derby. Later that year, Lewis rode Aristides to a second-place finish in the Belmont Stakes.

Although the first race meet proved a success, the track ran into financial difficulties and in 1894 the New Louisville Jockey Club was incorporated with new capitalization and improved facilities. Despite this, the business floundered until 1902 when Col. Matt Winn of Louisville put together a syndicate of businessmen to acquire the facility. Under Winn, Churchill Downs prospered and the Kentucky Derby became the preeminent and oldest Thoroughbred horse race in the USA.

Super Bowl Betting

Wouldn’t this be picture perfect for Brett Favre to officially re-retire after winning the Super Bowl, or at least making a Super Bowl appearance? Unfortunately, Drew Brees and the New Orleans Saints have slightly different plans. Drew Brees and the rest of the New Orleans suffer from “Rodney Dangerfield” syndrome, they get not respect! The handicappers currently have the New Orleans Saints favored by -4 points at home which seems like a great line to me.

The experts currently have the San Diego Chargers favored by -8 points, we do as well.

If anybody saw last week’s Cardinals game, you know that there were almost 100 points scored between both teams and it was a barn burner. This week should be no different, where defence comes after offence and after special teams. This game will no doubt be a high scoring offensive battle. Baltimore Ravens AT Indianapolis Colts

Everybody and there mother have already picked the Indianapolis Colts to win the Super Bowl, but there is a reason why we play the game isn’t there. If you all remember the Colts lost their last game of the season because rookie coach decided to bench their top players so that they will be ready for the playoffs. The last time this rookie coach did this, he was an assistant and his team lost in the playoffs. The question begging to be asked is, will history repeat itself? I’m not here to say that the Colts are going to win the Super Bowl, but I think they should be able to at least win one playoff game, even if it is against the raging Ravens defence lead by Ray Lewis. Because of the Ravens defence, I do not think the Colts will trample the Ravens, but they should be able to pull out a victory. The handicappers currently have the Colts favoured by -7 points.

Tennessee Titans AT Indianapolis Colts

After reading this pick, many of you may think both Tiger’s wife Elin, and I are crazy because I’m going to pick Vince Young and the Titans to cover, maybe even win! The Tennessee Titans have looked great the past few weeks, and although Payton Manning and the Indianapolis Colts have kept on trucking, some of their recent wins have looked like flukes. Don’t get me wrong, I am rooting for Manning and the Colts to win another Super Bowl; I just don’t think they are as good as their record states. Professional handicappers have the Indianapolis Colts favored by -7 points.

Our Pick: Tennessee Titans + 7 Points

Philadelphia Eagles AT Atlanta Falcons

The Philadelphia Eagles led by Donovan McNabb have looked great this year, far better than most fans expected. Although McNabb is only a year or two older than the Tom Bradys and Payton Mannings in the NFL, many naysayers had counted him and the Eagles out this season on the count of him being past his prime. The Eagles have come out this season with something to prove and they will continue ramping up against the Atlanta Falcons this week, even though the experts currently have the Eagles only favored by -5 ½ points which is probably because the Eagles are away.

Our Pick: Philadelphia Eagles – 5 ½ points

Dallas Cowboys AT New York Giants

I am really looking forward to this game, a battle between Billy Bob and Bubba Gump, two simpletons will face off this Sunday and they both have a lot to prove as of late. The Cowboys started off the season pretty weak and have picked it up as of late, whereas Manning and the Giants are going in the opposite direction. The experts have the Dallas Cowboys as -1 ½ point favorites.

I’ll let you guess who is Billy Bob and who Bubba Gump is.

I would like to begin this post by wishing everyone a very Happy Thanksgiving Day and sharing a very special quote that I have always held near and dear to my blood pumper.

Pretty deep quote wouldn’t you say, now let’s get back to what we came here for: Betting Tips, Online Sportsbook Advice & NFL Picks & Predictions.

As we all know Thanksgiving is a day we give thanks to the NFL for having games on a Thursday. Before we get into our 3 game NFL picks and predictions for Thanksgiving Football, let’s talk a little bit about online NFL online betting and explaining how you can be a part of the action. Many of our visitors have at one time or another bet on a NFL game, whether it was a verbal bet with a friend for bragging rights, or a bet with a bookie for your mortgage payment. In either case, most first time bettors will place straight up win or lose wagers, also known as moneyline wagers.

Moneyline Odds – With these types of wagers you only have to predict/guess the winner of the game, regardless of how many points you think they are going to win or lose by.

For example, in the above wager box as seen at the Bodog Sportsbook, the New York Giants are facing the Denver Broncos in a Thanksgiving day battle. As you can tell, there are 3 sets of numbers in the wager box next to the team names:

The first column of numbers is if you wish to place a wager on the pointspread.

The second column of numbers denotes moneyline odds.

The third column of numbers refers to the total score between both team’s odds.

With a moneyline wager we are looking to only bet on the moneyline which is the middle set of numbers (-265 & +225). The team that has a (-) symbol in front of the number is denoted as the favorite, and the team with the (+) symbol next to the numbers is referred to as the underdog.

In the above example, the New York Giants are the favorites. If you wanted to place a moneyline wager on the New York Giants winning this game, you would only tick the box next to the -265, and in the following screen you would input your wager amount which can be as little as $1.

The -265 refers to the payout percentage of this particular wager, which means that for every $265 you bet, you would win $100. So let’s say you deposit $265 into your Bodog account and then risk the whole $265 on this game and the Giants win, in this particular example you would get back $365 in your account (risk amount + winnings). Of course you do not need to bet $265 or deposit that much since you can deposit as little as $20 at the Bodog Canada Sportsbook and bet a $1 if you wanted to. If you were to bet $1, you would receive $1.38 back into your balance.

Placing a moneyline wager on the New York Giants in this particular game doesn’t seem like you are getting that much money back and that is because the New York Giants are heavy favorites in this game.

On the other hand, if you have that gut feeling that comes to us every once in awhile and you think the Denver Broncos can take this game over the Giants, the moneyline odds on a straight up win for the Denver Broncos are +225.

This means that for every $100 you risk, you will get back an additional $225. You are taking more of a risk betting on the Denver Broncos to win; however you are also getting back a lot more in return if they pull it off.   

Pointspread Odds – For novice bettors, they may be more inclined to place wagers on the pointspread which will essentially always have a better payout if you are betting in the favorites way because you are taking more of a risk in predicting that they are not only going to win the game, but win by a certain amount of points. The amount of points in a pointspread wager are determined by professional handicappers. In this case the professional handicappers are predicting the difference in score to be approximately 7 points. Sometimes you’ll see this number change as the game gets closer to start as more information regarding rosters and injury news becomes available and sways the odds.

For example, in the above wager box, the New York Giants are -7 point favorites. The (-) symbol means that this team is the favorite to win out of the two and they have to win by at least these many points in order for you to win your pointspread wager. If the Giants only win by 7 points over the Denver Broncos, this wager would be settled as a Push and you get your money back, nobody wins or loses.

You will also notice that next to the Denver Broncos name it says +7(-125). If you take this wager it means that the Denver Broncos need to lose by less than 7 points in order for your wager to win. If the Denver Broncos lose by exactly 7 points, the wager is settled as a Push and you get your money back, nobody wins or loses. And of course, if the Broncos win, your wager would also be settled as a win. 

Over/Under wagers – In the last column all the way over to the right where it says 42 in bold, and a little ‘o’ and ‘u’ next to the odds, is the total score wager, also known as the over/under. In this example, the professional handicappers predict that the combined total score between the New York Giants and Denver Broncos in tomorrow’s Thanksgiving Day feast will be approximately 42 points. Now you can wager on whether the combine score will be over or under 42 points.

This is the late game, and for good reason because this is the only game that could go right down to the final minute. The experts currently have the Cowboys as -3 point favorites which is a bit misleading considering Green Bay’s last week performance which had some positive signs. This is more of a must win game for the Packers than it is the Cowboys so we believe Aaron Roders will want it more.

 New England Patriots AT Indianapolis Colts

Ladies and germs, this is going to be a great game. I do not care who you cheer for, or who you bet on as long as you watch this epic clash between two future hall of fame quarterbacks. Both Tom Brady and Peyton Manning are going to be giving it 110% to prove to us who is the better quarterback. The experts currently have the Indianapolis Colts favored by -3 points. This is probably one of the hardest games this season that I have had to bet on as it can go either way. Bet cautiously on this one folks!

Before you check our 2009 free Breeders Cup picks, we would like to share a little insight with your devoted followers. Did you know that last year in all of the fourteen Breeders Cup races that only 4 thoroughbreds were victorious at odds of 10:1 or greater? You may be asking yourself what the significance of this is for you. Well, allow us to explain. This means in order to get paid a lot of money, you will get more bang for your buck when you place exotic wagers.

What are exotic wagers?

Exotic wagers are not those that are only found in the rain forest under a praying mantis plant. Exotic wagers are explained below in two parts; single exotic wagers and multiple exotic wagers.

Single exotic wagers are made up of exacta wagers, trifecta wagers and superfecta wagers. Do not be discouraged, those are just funny names, with simple meanings. An exacta wager means you are picking the 1^st and 2^nd place winners in order. If you are unsure of which out of the two horses will place 1^st and which horse will place 2^nd but you have a good feeling they both will be in the top two places, you can box your exacta. This increases your chances of winning because now it does not matter which place out of 1^st and 2^nd your two horses place, as long as they both beat every other horse in the field.

The trifecta wager expands the above mentioned exacta wager to also include a 3^rd place winner, and I think you can then guess what the superfecta wager does. The superfecta wager opens up the trifecta to include a 4^th place winner, this is a bet for 2010 Kentucky Derby betting men with brass.

Now that you have a rough idea of what single exotic wagers are, allow us to move right along to multiple exotic wagers.

Multiple exotic wagers refer to the Daily Double wager, Pick 3 wager, Pick 4 wager and finally a Pick 6 wager, sorry there is no Pick 5 wager because that would just make too much sense.

What is a Daily Double wager? Firstly, the Daily Double wager has nothing to do with coffee or a game of jeopardy. The Daily double wager means you are picking the 1^st place winners of two different races run consecutively. I often like to do this for heavy favorites.

Next up to pasture we have the Pick 3 wager, Pick 4 wager and last but definitely not least we have the Pick 6 wager. Pick wagers pretty much follow similar logic as the above Daily Double wager, however they are expanded over three, four or six consecutive races. The Pick 6 wager is actually not as hard as it seems since you only need to pick 5/6 winners so essentially you get a freebie. Pick wagers can get a bit risky, but the payouts are also  ridiculously high!

Juvenile Fillies Turf Race – Next up we have Tapitsfly running. Although she does not have much experience, she definitely looks ready for the Breeders Cup.

Filly and Mare Sprint Race – This may be my favorite race and it is only fitting that the body Ventura takes it to the house.

Juvenile Fillies Race – Who doesn’t like a woman in a negligee, our pick for this race is Negligee. 

Filly and Mare Turf Race – History has taught us that experience always proves to outshine youth in the Breeders Cup so we have to Forever Together who was victorious in this race last year.

Ladies Classic Race – This is an easy one, we have to go with Music Note, because I love music, and she loves to play for me.

Now many of you may be asking yourself, did not the Breeders Cup only use to be a one day event? Yes, prior to 2007, the Breeders Cup was only a one day event. In 2007, the races were held in Monmouth Park in Omaha Nebraska showing that world that they don’t just play poker in Omaha, they also have an excellent racetrack to go to.  At Monmouth Park in 2007, the Breeders Cup was made up of 11 races with a whopping $23 Million dollars spread out in purses over two days. This marked the birth of a two-day format for the Breeders Cup.

While getting all caught up in the hype of the Breeders Cup, we decided to send over an e-mail to the Executive Vice President of the Oak Tree Racing Association where the Breeders Cup is being held in 2 consecutive years and asked him what his thoughts were. Miami Dolphins at New York Jets

Although the Miami Dolphins have more celebrity owners than the Toyota Prius, they are a team with an upside just waiting to break out. It looks to be a tough match as the experts have the Jets at -3 1/2 favorites so this game should be very close. We believe that the Dirty Sanchez and the Jets will come up short in this one and will no cover the spread.

Although fans in Green Bay hate him now, they still claim the steak is superb. What can I say folks, Brett Favre always shows up to play. Currently Aaron Rodgers and the Packers are favoured by -3 points which almost seems fair, but like I said, Favre shows up to play when it is crunch time.

Now that the season has hit its peak, it should be a bit easier to pick the winners. In addition to my NFL picks for week 7, I’m throwing in a bonus MLB pick for tomorrow night’s game 6 between the New York Yankees and Los Angeles Angels.

Cleveland Browns AT Green Bay Packers

Aaron Rodgers goes into this game with a bit of a hot streak, and the Cleveland Steamers are again struggling to overcome injuries and new players in the line up. Aaron Rodgers is already looking ahead to next week where they host Brett Favre and the Minnesota Vikings so look for Rodgers and the rest of the Packers to roll through the Browns with ease as they have bigger fish to fry in their eyes. The experts currently have the Packers favored by -9 points which I think is more than reasonable.

Our Pick: Green Bay Packers at -9 points

 Minnesota Vikings AT Pittsburg Steelers

This is going to be a great matchup between both Jr. and Sr. Brett Favre. As we all know Big Ben is a great fan of Brett Favre, and many have compared the two quarterbacks as being very similar in grit and playing style. The Vikings are undefeated so far this season and a couple of those games were arguably flukes. Even though I’ll be cheering for Favre and the Vikings in this one, I do not think the Vikings will be able to keep their winning streak alive as all good things come to an end. The odds makers currently have the Steelers favored by -6 points.

Our Pick: Pittsburgh Steelers at -6 points

 New York Jets AT Oakland Raiders

Whenever I am not sure what my third pick should be, I always look to the Raiders. If the point spread is less than 10 against the Oakland Raiders, I’ll always bet against the Oakland Raiders because simply put, they are a shit show. This week we have the New York Jets led by rookie quarterback Mark Sanchez heading into Oakland as 7 point favorites. Even though the Raiders are at home, I do not believe they will cover the +7 point spread.

Los Angeles Angels AT New York Yankees

The Angels head into game 6 of the MLB ALCS playoffs in New York State trailing the series 2-3. Starting pitchers for tonight’s rain delay game are two lefties, Andy Pettitte (Yankees) and Joe Saunders (Angels). The odds makers currently have the Yankees favored by -1 ½ points. So far the Yanks look like the stronger team in these series and at home they are a force to be reckoned with.

New York Giants at New Orleans Saints

In NFL Week 6, the NFL brings us a tale of two new cities on a rampage 6 weeks into the young season. The Saints are currently favored by 3 points by the oddsmakers. Our prediction, the Saints are going to treat this as a statement game and they will cover the -3 point spread.

Our Pick: New Orleans Saints – 3 Points

Baltimore Raves at Minnesota Vikings

Next up we have the geriatric Brett Favre looking to continue the Vikings hot streak against Raw Lewis and the Baltimore Ravens. The experts currently have the Vikings favored by -3 points. This is sure to be a close game, but I think the Vikings will win by at least 3 points.

Our Pick: Minnesota Vikings – 3 points

Kansas City Chiefs at Washington Redskins

Yes this is sure to be a boring game and if your local broadcaster is carrying this game the only way to make it interesting is to bet on it! The only way I would watch this game would be if the Redskins had their cheerleaders playing. The oddsmakers currently have the Redskins favored by -6 ½ points. That is quite the pointspread for a team this horrible just because they are playing at home.

Chicago Bears at Atlanta Falcons

On to our last and most confident pick. The Bears of Chicago are heading into Atlanta to try and catch some birds sleeping. The Falcons are currently favored by -3 points and are starting to hit a hot streak. Although I’m a Bears fan at heart, my papa always told me to bet with my head. I think the Falcons will easily take out the Bears.

Well folks we have yet another Sunday tomorrow and if history has taught us anything, it’s that Tim knows his $hit! Again, I’m not one to gloat or toot my own horn (I just have my own blog where I brag about myself), but if you were to tally up all of my picks from NFL Week 1 to now, you will see 14/16 winners against the spread. Do the math, seriously, please do the math because I can’t seem to find my phone to use the calculator.

In the words of Brian Fantana, “They’ve done studies, you know. 60% of the time it works, every time.”

Dallas Cowboys Vs Kansas City Chiefs

Last week in NFL Week 4, our Golden Boy, Tony Romo lost a tough one to the Denver Broncos no less. The Dallas Cowboys offence was as predictable as Jerry Jones tupay last week but the hair should be settled down before they go into Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas.  The Chiefs are 0-4 so far and I do not see things improving soon. The experts currently have the Cowboys favored by -8 ½ points. This is a great line and I suggest you take it now before the spread widens.

Houston Texans Vs. Arizona Cardinals

As one of our afternoon games, we have the Houston Texans heading into Arizona to face the cardinals. In my opinion I liked Houston back when they were the Oilers. I suppose times change, however winning and losing records do not. Even though the Texans won last week, playing the Raiders is like playing a high school team so look for them to be unprepared in NFL Week 5. If you haven’t guessed it by now, I’m leaning/hoping towards a Cardinals win and for them to cover the spread. The experts currently have the Arizona Cardinals at -5 ½ points.

Our Pick: Arizona Cardinals AT – 5 ½ points

 Indianapolis Colts Vs. Tennessee Titans

For our last and definitely most likely least pick, we have the Colts in Nashville to do the two step with Garth Brooks, and play a little foosball with the Tennessee Titans. I say this is our least favorite pick because this is shaping up to be a really tight game. The experts currently have the Indianapolis Colts favored by -4 points. I believe the Colts have a better team, but with Tennessee’s home field advantage with their roaring country fans behind them, it should be very close. Our pick should you choose to accept it, the Colts.

Baltimore Ravens AT New England Patriots

Well folks, last week Tom Brady mistook a beat up Atlanta Falcons team for his wife Giselle, and he beat them good. I don’t think the Baltimore Ravens will be as passive this week coming into this game 3-0. Currently the experts have the Baltimore Ravens as +2 underdogs however I do not believe they have taken into consideration the Patriot’s recent surge of confidence from Week 1. Although the Pats started this season very shaky, Brady and Moss have gotten stronger and they are starting to look like the Pats of old.

Our pick: New England Patriots -2 points

Buffalo Bills AT Miami Dolphins

This is the last NFL game I am picking before the Monday Night Football game so pay close attention, relax and take notes. Honestly speaking, this game can go either way so I would strongly urge you to stay away from the straight up moneyline wagers. This is definitely a game you should put money down on the spread. Currently the oddsmakers have the Miami Dolphins as +1 ½ point underdogs at home. Both of these teams have struggled in the last decade or so and some would say this game doesn’t matter…tell that to the millions of fans that will be watching this Sunday. Both of these teams have a lot to prove and this should be one heck of bloodbath. Usually in bloodbaths, it’s the support and motivation from the home crowd that could be the deciding factor. With that said, I like the Dolphins with the spread this Sunday.

It’s time to get behind your home team or somebody else’s home team if their home team is better and start waving those towels.  Tonight night marks the first Saturday Hockey Night of the season and we have a lot of great games to preview, but we will only choose 3 of them because I have a car that needs tending to. Vancouver Canucks AT Colorado Avalanche

The Vancouver Canucks are coming off of a horrible game and the opposite holds true for the Avs.  The Colorado Avalanche are coming off of a stunning victory over the San Jose Sharks. What does this mean? It means that the first week of regular season hockey is as normal as gang green and does not necessarily signify things to come. It may be a few weeks before things start to settle down, therefore I think the Avs may shock some people this October.

 Ottawa Senators AT New York Rangers

Next we have the Ottawa Senators going across the boarder to visit the New York Rangers. Both teams revamped their offence in the off-season and this should be a high scoring game. I think the Senators will however come out on top.

Toronto Maple Leafs AT Washington Capitals

Next up we have our third and final pick. Yes, it is another Canadian team up to bat…or hockey stick. The Maple Leafs lost a tough one the other night against the Montreal Canadians, in a game where they should have won. Unfortunately, the Washington Capitals look 10 times better than they did last season and they just might run over the Toronto Maple Leafs. This season promises to be a great one, even though the Great One himself, Wayne Gretzky will not be a part of it. Just as Theoren Fleury retires for the 5^th time in his career, EA Sports predicts the Pittsburgh Penguins to repeat as Stanley Cup Champions, Roberto Luongo signs a $64 million dollar contract, another Sutter is coaching in the NHL, and the Montreal Canadians completely revamp their team again, everything seems to be pretty standard in terms of the NHL. I won’t even bother mentioning the Phoenix Coyotes debacle.

There are a lot of teams that look good this year so anybody willing to predict the Stanley Cup winner, is pretty much talking out of their puck hole.

We’ll take things a bit more slowly and just predict the winners of tonight’s openers.

Unless you are like Screech Powers who just enjoyed cheering for the referees, you probably have a favorite NHL team or two that you like to bet on. Now, I ask that you forget everything you have learned about NHL betting and anything that comes natural to you. Just follow my picks exactly and you should make enough money to be able to purchase more than one of those $12 beers at the next game you go to!

First up we have an original 6 team match up between the Montreal Canadians and Toronto Maple Leafs. This game will be played in Toronto. Both teams have dramatically changed their lineups from last year, however goaltending still remains an issue for the Maple Leafs.

My pick – Montreal Canadians  to win

There are only 4 games tonight so I am only going to make one more pick. Next up we have the Washington Capitals in Boston to play the Bruins. If you’re a Bruins fan, stop reading this now. The Bruins had their chance last year to win the Stanley Cup, but I do not think they will be as dominating this NHL season. On the other hand, the Capitals should have done better last year than they actually did. Ovechkin, Semin and Greene have much to prove this year.

My pick – Go with the hungrier team, Washington Capitals to win.

Be sure to check out the game tonight at a 8:30 EST start. This was a very hard game for me to pick. I was almost in tears and debating whether or not I should even make a pick, however I then thought to myself, “Why ruin a good thing?”

I really think that the Dallas Cowboys will win this game at home, but I am not sure they will be able to cover the spread seeing how Barber is out for tonight’s game. The experts currently have the Cowboys as 9 point favorites. I do not think this will be a high scoring game, but I have to believe that Romo will win his first game in the new Dallas Cowboys stadium tonight, he has to. Now the question is, by how much can the Cowboys win by?

 NFL Week 3 Picks and Predictions

We have another NFL week set to kick off Sunday and everything appears to be normal. Normal is not always good, however so far this season we have picked 8/10 winners against the spread so let’s keep the streaking or streak going. Regardless of whatever floats your boat, this week looks to be very promising if we stay away from any games that involve the New England Patriots since they are as predictable as Kanye West’s acceptance speeches.

 Atlanta Falcons AT New England Patriots

Okay before you start with me, I realize that I am about to contradict myself. After just saying I would not touch any game involving the New England Patriots, I must touch this one. This line looks too good to pass up. Currently the experts have the New England Patriots favored by -4 ½ points at home. For those new here, this means the New England Patriots are handicapped by 4 ½ points. This means if you place a point spread wager on the New England Patriots -4 ½, the Patriots have to win by at least 5 points for your wager to settle as a win. If you place the opposite wager on the Atlanta Falcons +4 ½, that means that if the Atlanta Falcons win outright, or lose by 4 points or less, you win. Since the Patriots are fueled by mean spirited coaching and would rather swallow their own blood over their pride, I think they will have a statement game at home this Sunday, September 27^th.

 Chicago Bears @ Seattle Seahawks 

Next up we have Jay Cutler and the Chicago Bears heading into the rainy city. I’ll make this pick short and sweet. Unless Dr. Frasier Crane and his brother Niles can join Seattle’s offence, the Seahawks do not have a chance to cover the 2 ½ point spread.

 Indianapolis Colts @ Arizona Cardinals

With our 3^rd and final pick for NFL Week 3 we have the Indianapolis Colts, lead by Payton Manning’s heroics from last week, heading into Phoenix Arizona to battle it out with Larry Fitzgerald and the Cardinals. The small high that the Colts are riding after last week’s win will be short-lived. Common misconceptions about this Sunday’s game between the Indianapolis Colts and Arizona Cardinals are that Larry Fitzgerald is not really a Jewish lawyer from New York and Payton Manning is not actually appearing live in those commercials you see during TV commercial breaks for Sony, Direct TV and MasterCard. Ladies and gentleman, those commercials are pre-taped. We feel that if Payton Manning spent more time on the practice field this season rather than in Hollywood, he might not be getting ready for his first loss of the season this Sunday against the Cardinals.

NHL Opening Week Picks

Lest we forget our beloved ice men. Yes, the NHL regular season is upon us. The NHL is set to officially drop the black saucer on October 1^st and with all of the offseason moves there will be a lot of dark horses making a run for Lord Stanley’s Cup. Oakland Raiders at Kansas City Chiefs

 Yes, for somebody that is not a big Raiders Nation fan, I’ve been talking about them a lot as of late because they remind me of the Bad News Bears of the NFL. The odds makers have the Kansas City Chiefs favored by -3 points for this game. I don’t agree. Although I’m not saying that Raiders fans should start buying playoff tickets now, but I do think they will do better than last NFL season and these Oakland Raiders will cover their +3 point spread.

Seattle Seahawks at San Francisco 49er’s

Up next we have the age old matchup between the Seattle Seahawks and their fellow NFC West rivals, the San Francisco 49er’s. Over the past few years this rivalry has simmered down, because frankly the 49’ers were horrible as they were going through a rebuilding phase. Guess what, mission accomplished and team rebuilt. The 49er’s are looking a lot better than previous years. The odds makers currently have the 49er’s favored to win by -1 ½  points. To that I say, “I concur”. If you are going to place a bet on this game, I would take the San Francisco 49er’s to cover the -1 ½ point spread.

New England Patriots at New York Jets

Brady’s BACK! Well I guess Tom Brady’s guest appearance in the show Entourage playing himself was a sign that Tom Brady is back to claim his throne. After a shaky start against the Buffalo Bills last week, Tom Brady regrouped and came back as only he could in the 4^th quarter. Must have been something Turtle said to him. Between Brady, Moss & Faulk, I don’t think Sanchez will have a chance this Sunday, and the New York Jets will definitely will not cover the +4 point spread that that odds makers currently have them at.

Based on their response, they did not confirm or deny whether or not they are closing their doors to online sportsbooks. Based on my own research, I believe that if Moneybookers decides to cease processing  transactions for online sportsbooks, it will not be because of legal reasons like NETeller did, it will be because of the new business ventures they are inking as we speak which may prevent them from processing online gaming transactions.

In any case, who really cares? Moneybookers always asked for ridiculous verification anyways, so good riddance! If you play with Bodog, I would suggest depositing with your credit card or pre-paid gift card (Walgreens), and then requesting your payouts via check by courier which only takes 3-4 business days and are free, unlike Moneybookers fees! Also, if you are from Canada you may use UseMyBank to deposit with Bodog.

Hello friends. Now if that wasn’t an exciting Sunday, I don’t know what is. Only Jesus himself coming back  next Sunday could beat the action we saw yesterday. Although I don’t like to toot my own horn because I heard it gives you hairy palms, I would like to remind all of you of my picks from the first week of the NFL regular season…

For Thursday’s tilt between the Titans and Steelers, I said the Titans would over the 6.5 point spread, which they did. For yesterday’s games, I said the Eagles would cover the 3 point spread, which they did. Where I got lazy was with my Cowboys pick. Even though I stated that the Cowboys were going to win, I didn’t think they would win by more than 6 points which they did. Now that I have a little hot streak going, I think I’ll make my picks for the double header Monday Night Football games.

First up, we have T.O. and the Buffalo Bills heading into New England to play the New England Patriots. Currently Bodog has the Patriots favored by 13 points and to that I say HAHAHAHHA. There is no way the Buffalo Bills are going to lose this game by 13 points. The Bills, lead by QB Trent Edwards, had a great pre-season and they are known to have great Septembers, it’s just the last 5 months of the season they usually suck. Taking into account Brady’s rust, my pick for this one is either the Bills on the moneyline which is very risky, but the payout is great, or the Bills to cover +13!

 Next we have the Oakland Raiders in San Diego to face the Chargers. Bodog currently has the Chargers at -10.5 favorites as they should be. As of last week, the Oakland Raiders were still practicing without pads, just working on the fundamentals, so I doubt they will be ready for the Chargers.  There you have it folks, take the Bills and Chargers to cover!

Mark Sanchez fist pumping after hearing of Brett Favre's retirement...it was short lived.

 Mark Sanchez  QB, drafted #1 overall by the New York Jets, seen on the left. This guy could be the real deal, too bad his team sucks. All jokes aside, the New York Jets are actually looking pretty good this season with a very improved offensive line. Now that Favre has shipped his personal belongings (wheelchair, Viagra, Metamucil) to Minnesota, Sanchez will get a lot of playing time and should be putting up some good numbers.

Another rookie you should add to your NFL fantasy pool is Wide Receiver, Jeremy Maclin of the Philadelphia Eagles. Even Donovan ” Chunky Soup” McNabb had nothing but good things to say about this soon to be all-star wide out. Maclin was a force to be reckoned with in college where he made his opposition look like they were playing high school football. To get an idea of this man’s cheetah like speed, check out his 99 yard kickoff return when he played for Mizzou.

Fortunately for the Philadelphia Eagles, Jeremy Maclin is not the only new face in this year’s lineup. Pet Lover Du Jour, Michael Vick is one of the newest members to suit up in the White and Hunter-Green. Vick, featured here as the loving and cuddly pet lover with his puppy Binky prior to his prison sentence.  With Vick’s mistakes behind him, he is looking to start fresh with the Eagles and so far good no? Vick was received with a standing ovation after his first game by his loyal teammates after going 3/3 for 17 yards in his first pre-season game back. If Binky and the Eagles can support him, surely we can too!

 With a whopping 13 NFL games slated for tomorrow, Sunday, September 13th, allow me to pick some of the winners. I said some, not all.

First off we have the Philadelphia Eagles Vs. Carolina Panthers. The experts have the current spread at -3 for the Eagles. I am by no means an expert, but I also think the Eagles will win by at least 3 points. Click on the helmets below to see a more in depth preview and statistical analysis for this upcoming game.

Now I don’t want to get carried away with my picks so I am only to give you guys one more pick. I prefer we take things slow, and if we like each other maybe we can have 4 picks for next Sunday okay? It’s not you, it’s me.

With my next and final pick I have the Tampa Bay Buccaneers covering the +6 spread against the Dallas Cowboys. Currently the experts have the spread at -6 for the Dallas Cowboys, and even though I think they are going to be great this season, and most likely they are going to win tomorrow’s opener, I do not believe they are going to cover the -6 spread.
